Checkout procedure: Students in first, second, third, and fourth grade check out 2 books per week. Students in kindergarten at BES and KES check out 1 book per week. Kindergarten students at HES (pictured below) can pick out 2 books per week. These books are due back one week later.
At any time, students can return books they have finished so they can check out new books. Classroom teachers will send students down for this type of book exchange at their convenience. If students forget their books on their library day, they can return their books on the following school day and check out new books at that time. Additional books may be checked out by students to use in their classrooms as part of project or research work.
Lost or Damaged books: Students who lose or damage library books or materials will be billed so those items may be replaced.
Class Schedules: Students K-4 have one 45 minute library class each week. The library classes will occasionally meet in the computer lab so students can learn digital literacy and research skills.
Expectations for Behavior: Students have agreed upon the following expectations for behavior in order to create an optimal learning environment in the library:
1) Listen to and respect the speaker.
2) Raise a quiet hand.
3) Use an inside voice.
4) Treat books with care and respect.
5) Be safe.
