Kindergarteners practiced their computer skills while learning new facts about the world. They all learned how to independently navigate to PebbleGo, navigate to different topics on the website, and type keywords into the search bar.
1st Grade students wrote research questions about a topic of their choice. They used search skills and navigation skills to find the answers to their research questions on PebbleGo. Then, they recorded videos with the new facts they learned and shared them with their classmates. Classmates used the Seesaw application to watch the videos and respectfully respond to their classmates' thinking. Below is a screenshot of some students' work.
2nd Grade students have a goal of being able to independently find any book in the library, just like the 3rd and 4th graders. They have learned how the different sections of the library are organized and how to read call numbers. Click the button to watch a short clip from one team's first day navigating the non-fiction section.
3rd and 4th grade students recently completed a unit on Digital Citizenship. Digital Citizenship has two parts, 1) being a safe and kind person on the internet and 2) knowing how to use digital technology effectively. Here are some of the topics we discussed:
- Responsibilities we have to ourselves, our friends and family, and the broader internet community
- Personal vs. private information- what is okay to share and what isn't
- How to deal with unkind and inappropriate communication
- Using keyword searches and search engines
- What plagiarism is and how to avoid it
First grade students made video recordings of poems in order to showcase their reading fluency and prosody. At the end of the unit, they each recorded a poem they wrote! Scan the QR codes below to see a few of the recordings!
Coming soon! Kindergarteners learned how to use the Little Bird Tales app to create their own All About and How To stories!
Scan the QR codes below to see a few images from our makerspace! K-2 students collaborated to build freestanding structures using only spaghetti, string, and tape. Their goal was to see how tall they could build a structure that was able to support a marshmallow. K-2 students have also started designing wearable technology that will include a coin battery and LED lights. The pictures in the gallery show students trying to figure out how to make the LEDs light up!
